Phase One acquires Expression Media from Microsoft: "Phase One has acquired

Expression Media from Microsoft. The image cataloging application for Mac and Windows was previously known as iView MediaPro before Microsoft purchased it in 2006. Until June 30, 2010, Phase One is offering Expression Media 2 free of charge to licensed users of its Capture One software."

Sigma 17-50mm F2.8 EX DC OS HSM now available: " Sigma announces the new Sigma 17-50mm F2.8 EX DC OS HSM large aperture lens designed for digital SLRs, first introduced at the PMA 2010 in February. The compact lens with a length of 91.8mm (3.6'') features an Optical Stabilization function that offers the use of shutter speeds approximately 4 stops slower. The lens has a minimum focusing distance of 28cm (11') throughout the entire zoom range and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:5. The Sigma 17-50mm F2.8 lens is available now for $669..."

Adobe releases Camera Raw 6.1 for Photoshop CS5: "Adobe has released Camera Raw 6.1, its raw processing software plug-in for Photoshop CS5. The final version of the update, originally posted as a 'release candidate' on the Adobe Labs site, is available for immediate download. The latest version is based around a revised processing engine and includes the Lens Correction feature that applies profile-based corrections. It also extends RAW support to the same cameras that were supported in v5.7, with additional support for the Olympus E-600."

Adobe adds GPS data panel to Creative Suite 5: "Adobe has released a GPS data panel for its Creative Suite 5 software applications including Photoshop CS5. Once downloaded, the panel sits under File Info dialog and provides basic location information such as latitude, longitude, and altitude of both the camera and subject. The installation files for the GPS panel are available for immediate download for both Mac and Windows platforms from Adobe's website."

Photoshop Lightroom 3 now available for purchase from Adobe: "Adobe has begun shipping Photoshop Lightroom 3, the next major release of its pro photo management and RAW conversion application for Mac and Windows. Available now for US$299, or US$99 for licensed users of Lightroom 1.x or 2.x, the new version adds tethered capture, an improved import process, custom watermarks, flexible print package layouts, additional slide show features including video export, generally faster operation and the same RAW conversion engine and features as found in Photoshop CS5's Camera Raw 6.1."

Three Adobe software final versions released: "

Apple releases RAW compatibility update: "Apple has released a Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update for Aperture 3 and iPhoto '09. Update 3.2 extends RAW support to nine additional cameras and addresses processing issues of files from the Canon EOS 30D, Pentax K-x and K-7 digital SLRs. Nikon to release updated 200-400mm f/4 in late May: "Nikon will release an updated version of its venerable 200-400mm f/4 VR at the end of next month. The AF-S Nikkor 200-400mm f/4G ED VR II adds four-stop VR II image stabilization, Nano Crystal Coat lens coating for reduced ghosting and flaring and a new A/M position on the lens' mode switch (this option limits accidental switching to manual focus), plus minor cosmetic changes."
