Nikon rolls out updates for Capture NX2, Camera Control Pro: "Nikon has posted updaters today for Capture NX2 and Camera Control Pro on Mac and Windows, fixing bugs, improving OS compatibility and introducing support for the upcoming D3X."

Nikon has announced the D3X, its latest high-resultion professional DSLR. Sporting an imaging sensor with double the number of photosites of the popular D3, the 24.5 megapixel D3x includes similar features such as a 3.0', 920,000 dot LCD monitor with Live View, 51-point autofocus, EXPEED image processing and HDMI output. To keep up with the demands of stock photography the camera produces 50MB 14-bit RAW files that can be processed to produce 140MB TIFFs. It also supports Nikon’s wireless system and is compatible with Nikon’s new GP-1 GPS unit."

Headlining the new features is a built-in Silent Wave Motor which enables autofocus with the D60/D40x/D40 DSLRs, but the lens also boasts a brand-new optical system with 8 elements in 7 groups for improved image quality, a circular aperture diaphragm for more attractive background blur, and a barrel design which does not change length on focusing. The lens will be available from December 2008."

The Nikon D700 Unveiled: "The much anticipated Nikon D700 made its debut today. The D700 aims at providing the same feature set as of the Nikon D3 without burning a hole in the consumers pocket.
