Breeze Systems release D90 and D300 Remote software: “Software maker Breeze Systems has launched remote capture software for the Nikon D90 and Nikon D300 DSLRs. Both enable users to control focus from a PC, shoot time-lapse sequences and display live images. They incorporate the company’s Photobooth shoot and print feature designed for event photographers. The packages are the first time Breeze Systems has supported remote capture for Nikon cameras, having covered Canon DSLRs since 2001, and trial versions are now available.”

Olympus launches Zuiko Digital 14-54mm 1:2.8-3.5 II: “Alongside the E-30, Olympus has released the Zuiko Digital 14-54mm 1:2.8-3.5 II lens; successor to the Zuiko Digital 14-54mm 1:2.8-3.5. The new lens has been redesigned to offer compatibility with the ‘High-speed imager AF’ system included in recent Four Thirds DSLRs. The lens is a 3x zoom, equivalent to 28-108mm on 35mm format.”

Nikon releases SB-900 firmware update ver. 5.02: “Nikon releases firmware update version 5.02 for the SB-900. The following improvements have been made in version 5.02 - With uninterrupted shooting with the SB-900 set to i-TTL mode, images captured just before the flash ceased firing were sometimes overexposed. - When the SB-900, set to TTL auto flash mode, is used with a camera supporting the Creative Lighting System, flash mode automatically changes to A mode according to camera communication status. The Nikon D3 or the D300 can be used to upgrade SB-900 firmware…”

Adobe releases Photoshop Lightroom 2.2: “Adobe has updated Photoshop Lightroom to Version 2.2. The latest version extends RAW support to the cameras included in the recent Camera RAW 5.2 release. The latest update also builds-in the camera profiles, previously available from Adobe Labs, that attempt to mimic the camera manufacturers’ intended output.”

Nikon Camera Control Pro Version 2.4.0: “The new version of the Nikon Camera Control Pro is now available for download. Version 2.4.0 has the following changes:

Support for the D3X has been added.
- Windows 2000 is no longer supported.
- In some rare cases, when images with file sizes of 14 MB or larger were transferred, the transferred images were corrupted. This issue has been resolved.

Your ideas really do make a difference! Back a few months ago I asked for your feedback on bolding the keyboard shortcuts in my Lightroom 2 book for Digital Photographers. It turned out to be a big hit with readers, but along with the great feedback, there was also one constant request; for spiral-bound editions of my new books.

We did some research, and learned that the major bookstores absolutely weren’t interested in stocking spiral-bound books, but with the help of with our publisher (New Riders), as a test we went ahead and special-ordered 1,000 copies of my latest book, ‘The Photoshop CS4 Book for Digital Photographers,’ which we’re having spiral-bound at the printer. Another idea was to include a tear-out keyboard shortcut guide, and although I wasn’t able to get it included in this edition, I am working on an idea moving forward that might work out well for a book I’m doing next year (more as it develops).
